Large and magnificent nineteenth century cast brass machine nameplate insignia logo emblem plate also used as the mounting location for two solid brass gauges. This was probably part of the main control panel for a Lyon's Steam Disinfector made by the Manlove, Alliott Co. Ltd. in the 1880s in Nottingham, England. The Steam Disinfector was used to clean and disinfect clothing, bedding, etc. in hospitals and other institutions along with military and industrial applications. 21 1/2" wide by 7 3/4" high, the one-piece polished brass back panel is almost 1/8" thick. The center panel lists the device name and manufacturer in large block letters on a textured background within a raised outer frame. The textured plate continues on both sides supporting two 4 1/8" diameter brass pressure gauges, 1 5/8" deep, with black-on-white dials and black pointers. The gauges have flat glass lenses and threaded connectors at the bottom. The panel and gauges are in very good to excellent cosmetic condition with bright polished surfaces and attractively patinated recesses. The gauge faces are clean and sharp and the glass lenses are crack and scratch free. There is some compound residue and slight soiling that would respond to a good detail cleaning.
